Description
As a Rotor Wing Pilot in Command at Intermountain Health, you will lead safe, efficient air medical transport operations supporting our integrated healthcare system. Based within the Transportation & Logistics department, you will perform pre-flight planning, conduct rotor-wing flights in varied terrain and weather, and collaborate closely with flight nurses, paramedics, and dispatch to deliver timely, patient-centered care. You’ll uphold strict FAA and organizational safety standards while contributing to a mission-driven, team-based culture focused on compassion, integrity, and continuous improvement. Conduct thorough pre-flight planning, weather evaluation, and aircraft inspections in compliance with FAA and company standards
Coordinate closely with medical teams, dispatch, and ground crews to support timely, patient-centered transport
Maintain accurate flight logs, operational records, and adherence to all regulatory and organizational policies
Participate in ongoing training, safety drills, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-reliability organization
Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and compassion aligned with Intermountain Health’s mission and values
Rotor-wing aircraft operation and control
IFR and night flying procedures
Flight planning, navigation, and fuel management
Air medical/EMS operations and protocols
FAA Part 91/135 regulatory compliance
Aviation risk assessment and safety management (SMS)
Crew Resource Management (CRM) and radio communication
Mountain and adverse weather flying techniques
Use of aviation charts, EFBs, and avionics systems
Accurate flight logging and operational documentation

FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter certificate (ATP Rotorcraft preferred)
Current FAA Second Class Medical (First Class preferred)
Instrument Rating – Helicopter (IFR experience preferred)
Minimum rotor-wing flight hour thresholds typical for HAA/EMS (e.g., 2000+ total, 1000+ PIC, 100+ night – as applicable)
Recent Part 135 or equivalent operational experience
Clean FAA record and valid driver’s license
Mountain and/or NVG experience preferred
Ability to pass company training, checkrides, and recurrent proficiency checks
