Description
Med-Trans Corporation seeks a skilled Rotor Wing Pilot to support emergency air medical transport operations. In this safety-first role, you will operate and manage rotor wing aircraft during pre-hospital and inter-facility missions, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely patient transport. You will collaborate closely with medical crew and dispatch, adhere to FAA and company regulations, and maintain detailed flight and aircraft records. Perform comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather assessment, route selection, fuel planning, and weight-and-balance calculations.
Conduct thorough pre-flight and post-flight inspections and promptly report any maintenance discrepancies or safety concerns.
Make conservative go/no-go decisions using formal risk assessment tools and established safety protocols.
Fly day, night, VFR, and IFR missions as authorized, including operations with night vision goggles and advanced avionics systems.
Maintain clear, professional communication with medical crew, dispatch, air traffic control, ground agencies, and partner facilities.
Coordinate closely with flight paramedics and flight nurses to support efficient, patient-centered transport operations.
Participate actively in company safety programs, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Engage in recurrent training, check rides, and continuing education to maintain proficiency in aircraft systems, emergency procedures, and EMS flight operations.
Represent Med-Trans professionally with partner hospitals, first responders, and the public, supporting outreach and relationship-building activities.
Adhere to all company policies, including fatigue management, sterile cockpit rules, and operational risk management guidelines.
Work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and remain prepared for rapid response to emergent missions.
Rotor wing aircraft operation and handling
Instrument flying (IFR) skills
Night vision goggle (NVG) operations
Pre-flight planning and flight risk assessment
Weight-and-balance and performance calculations
Use of aviation weather tools and interpretation of METARs/TAFs
Radio communication with ATC and dispatch
Knowledge of FAA Part 135 and applicable regulations
Emergency procedures and abnormal operations management
Navigation using GPS/FMS and conventional navaids
Crew Resource Management (CRM) and teamwork
Technical understanding of helicopter systems and limitations
Documentation and flight/operational record-keeping
Situational awareness and decision-making under pressure
Basic computer skills for electronic flight bag and reporting systems

Instrument Rating – Helicopter
Current Class II (or higher) FAA Medical Certificate

Recent experience in HAA/EMS or low-level helicopter operations preferred
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screenings
