Cybersecurity subject matter expert who will advance A4A membership interests by promulgating and advocating consensus policy positions on aviation cyber security issues before U.S. federal government agencies as well as various U.S. and international aviation community associations.

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Security and Facilitation
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Security and Facilitation
STATUS: Exempt

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as cybersecurity subject matter expert for Airlines for America.
  • Establish and oversee a Cybersecurity Council or other forum to bring together Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) of member airlines to discuss cybersecurity policy issues and other topics in an airline-only environment.
  • Facilitate the timely dissemination of information to members regarding regulatory and policy issues.
  • Develop and coordinate consensus policy positions among member airlines via written communications, teleconferences and face-to-face meetings.
  • Draft educational and advocacy materials for governmental and public consumption.
  • Establish routine communication with other key aviation cyber stakeholders, including:
    • A-ISAC
    • IATA
    • ACI-NA
    • AAAE
    • Chamber of Commerce
    • Aviation Manufacturers (airframes)
    • Others as needed
  • Establish and enhance relationships with key U.S. government cybersecurity policymakers, including:
    • Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
    • Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
    • U. S. Government tri-chaired Aviation Cyber Initiative
    • Transportation Security Agency (TSA)
    • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
    • Department of Defense/U.S. Air Force
  • Provide subject matter expertise review of media requests and legislation.
  • Provide oversight of Known Crewmember program cybersecurity audits and posture.
  • Serve as A4A CISO and provide input over A4A cyber posture and risk.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: minimum – B.S/B.A. degree or equivalent experience.
  • One or more cybersecurity certifications.
  • Minimum of five years’ cybersecurity experience at an air carrier, other airline industry entity or government agency. At least three of those years working with policy matters.
  • Proven ability to understand and address cybersecurity issues at the tactical, operational/technical and policy levels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to keep track of multiple ongoing projects; strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with government representatives and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10% of time.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including nights and weekends, to support A4A senior management.
  • Ability to obtain a secret-level security clearance.
